Scavenger Hunt, September 21

Fun for the whole family.  Form your team of friends and family (4-6 people) and test your wits and your teamwork as you search for answers to tricky and humorous questions about the places you visit and sights you discover in the downtown area of Rye.   Each team is $50.

New York Times: At a YMCA Near You, a Course for a Diabetic Nation

The following article, about our YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program and partnership with Open Door Family Medical Center, appeared in the New York Times on July 3, 2014.

Oralia Barrios knew she’d gotten heavy, but she didn’t realize how heavy until she went to the doctor last year. At 5-foot-2, she weighed 190 pounds. And her doctor at the Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester, N.Y., had bad news: her blood sugar was too high. Her A1c test showed that her hemoglobin level was 5.9, making her pre-diabetic.  Read more.
