Student Volunteers

The Rye YMCA offers high school seniors and college students the opportunity to complete their internship requirements at Y. Student volunteers who have worked at the Y have found a stimulating, friendly environment where they can learn about:

• Non-profit administration
• Sports programming and administration
• Aquatics
• Community health issues
• Community outreach
• Marketing and communications
• Member services
• Child Care

The students will also gain experience working in a professional setting, with all of the responsibilities that entails.

Please note that the Rye Y serves four school districts and can offer only a limited number of volunteer slots. To apply for the spring term, the student should send an e-mail or letter of interest to Denise Woodin (denisewoodin@ryeymca.org) by February 1 at the latest. The correspondence should state why he or she wants to work at the Rye YMCA. The student will then be contacted for an interview. If accepted, he or she will need to complete the Y’s application process and online child abuse prevention training. If the student is age 18 or older, a background check will also be required.
