Rye Y Gymnasts Win Two 3rd Place Trophies at National YMCA Championships
RYE, NY (July 7, 2010) The Rye Y gymnastics team returned from the 2010 YMCA National Championships in San Diego
with dozens of medals and two third place all around championships. Over 1500 gymnasts from 90 YMCAs throughout the United States competed in the June 22-25 competition. Rye Y champions Lily Donohue, Level 4, and Debbie Musselman, Level 5, led the team, winning 3rd place trophies. Melissa Lewis, Rye Y Athletics Director, and Kathy O’Brien, Rye Y Gymnastics Coordinator accompanied the team to San Diego. “The nationals were a great end to a season of hard work and wonderful results,” said O’Brien. “We’re looking forward to more strong performances next year!”
Level 4 highlights:
Junior age division:
Lily Donohue was the 3rd place all around champion with 2nd place on floor, 9.45, 4th on beam, 9.0, 5th on vault, 8.875, and 6th on bars, 9.1.
Eliza Adamo was the 8th place all around champion with 3rd place on floor, 9.4, 8.825 on bars, 8.8 on beam, 8.675 on vault.
Child age division:
Caitlyn Walsh was the 7th place all around champion with 3rd place on bars 9.275, 9.125 on floor, 8.725 on beam, 8.65 on vault.
Level 5 highlights:
Junior age division:
Debbie Musselman was the 3rd place all around champion with 4th place on bars, 8.8, 5th on floor, 8.65, 8.875 on beam, 8.5 on vault.
Lyndsey Will was the 7th place all around champion with 4th place on vault 8.775, 8.75 on beam, 8.35 on floor, 8.05 on bars.
Colleen DeConcini was the 8th place all around champion with 5th place on vault 8.7, 8.85 on beam, 8.4 on floor, 7.925 on bars.
Level 6 Highlights:
Child age division:
Chloe Schettino placed 8th on vault 8.55, 8.8 on floor, 8.075 on beam.
Senior age division:
Maija Karppinen placed 5th on beam 8.7, 8.3 on floor, 8.05 on vault.
