The following Group Exercise classes are included in your membership at the Rye Y. Many classes offered for all fitness levels. Some classes are held at the Wainwright House. (Ages 16 & up Co-Ed)

Activate your Life in only one hour! Group Active Classes are designed for people who want to become more active but are not regular exercisers. Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group active will increase your cardio fitness, build your strength and improve your balance and flexibility. Zumba!®: This is the group exercise class that is sweeping the nation! Using Latin/Afro music and moves, your certified
Zumba! instructor will definitely get your heart rate up! This is good for weight loss, endurance and...fun!
Total Body with Abs: This class incorporates various strength techniques to improve strength, endurance and balance, helping to define muscle, burn calories and give you more energy.
Step: A high intensity, low impact class using various arm and leg movements while stepping. Muscle toning and stretching will be included.
Power Madness: A muscle endurance and muscle strength class using power-cut bars and weights.
Cardiosculpt: A great intermediate to advanced level class that includes 35-40 minutes of aerobic and body sculpting using bands, steps, and weights. The class concludes with upper body toning, lower body toning and abs.
Power hour/Muscle Conditioning: Strength and conditioning class using a variety of equipment including abdominals and stretch at the end.
Pilates: Performed on mats, this exercise methodology combines stretching and isometric contraction to produce a smoother, longer body silhouette. Long practiced by dancers, it is a wise addition to an aerobics-only exercise regimen.
Yoga: Hatha: traditional postures, visualization and meditation; Vinyasa (a.k.a. “power yoga”): active, flowing postures for all levels; Ashtanga: synchronizes breath with a progressive posture series which detoxifies muscles and organs; Gentle: Basic yoga postures, stretch for all levels.; Restorative: Using preps to help still and sooth the mind; Kundalini: The most ancient form; breath-generated.
Spinning: The ride of your life! A group cycling class on stationary bikes specially designed for this purpose, set to music and led by an instructor in our spinning studio. The leader dictates the changes in intensity throughout the session.
Cardio Pump: This class combines low/high intensity moves on and off the step. Class will finish with muscle toning and abdominal work.
Power Hour Interval Conditioning: A high intensity level interval class using a variety of equipment.
Lunchtime Express: Get a good workout at lunchtime! A class for all levels of exerciser that will burn calories and leave you invigorated!
Cardio/Power strength: Great for teachers and those finishing work early. Interval class using weights and bars finishing with abdominals.
